KemperSports has been selected to mange Shiloh Springs Golf Club in Platte City, Mo. The Platte County Commission voted 3–0, choosing KemperSports over three other management proposals, according to the Kansas City Star. Two of the four companies were interested in purchasing the public course, though KemperSports was not one of them, according to the newspaper.
“I believe KemperSports presented the county with the best opportunity to increase its rounds, increase participation in golf programs and help achieve our goal of increasing operational revenues at the course,” Brian Nowotny, director of the Platte County Parks and Recreation Department, told the Kansas City in March.
KemperSports currently manages two other courses in nearby Kansas City, Mo.: Shoal Greek Golf Club and Hodge Park Golf Course.
Designed by architect Gary Martin, the 18-hole, par-71 golf course routes through the rolling hills of Northwest Missouri. It is located five minutes from the Kansas City International Airport.
“We are honored to work with Platte County to manage Shiloh Springs,” KemperSports CEO Steve Skinner said in a news release. “Working closely with the County, our goal will be to bring creative operational efficiencies while enhancing the customer experience at the course."
Opened in 1995, Shiloh Springs Golf Club has a full-service golf shop, driving range, practice facility, grill and a banquet space with a capacity of 150 guests. From 1995 to 2000, Martin leased the facility from the County and personally operated the course, according to the club’s website. Starting in 2000, Oak Golf, a Kansas-based management company, managed the facility until 2002. For the following two years, different individuals hired by the County managed it.
“In October 2005 Platte County made some major decisions that will influence the future of Shiloh Springs Golf Club in a very positive way,” the club’s website reads. “They purchased the land that the golf course sits on from Martin Investments, making Platte County the sole owner of the facility. They put the operation of the golf course under the Platte County Parks & Recreation Department.”
Based in Northbrook, Ill., KemperSports owns and manages over 120 18-hole equivalent golf courses across the United States, Caribbean and Central America.
