KemperSports announced today that it has been selected by Clark County, Nev to manage Desert Rose Golf Club located in Eastern Las Vegas, located just minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. Originally designed by Dick Wilson and John Lee in 1964, Desert Rose will re-emerge after undergoing a full re-design by Randy Heckenkemper, who most recently completed designs at The Champions Course at TPC Scottsdale and worked in collaboration with Phil Mickelson at McDowell Mountain Golf Club.

In addition to the newly created golf course, Desert Rose will be re-branded with a new name and logo in order to reposition the golf course in the Las Vegas market. The newly renovated golf course will also feature a 4,400-sq.-ft. clubhouse, which will provide the local community with a local gathering place featuring a golf shop as well as full service restaurant and bar.

“We believe KemperSports is the right partner to re-open our iconic golf course,” Lonny Zimmerman said in a news release, a Clark County Representative. “Their expertise in opening new courses as well as their experience in managing a large number of municipal properties made them an ideal choice to manage Desert Rose.”

Closed for more than two years while the construction was taking place, Desert Rose will re-open to the public in fall 2015.

“The renovation allowed for each golf hole to be contoured in order to retain the subtle movement throughout the routing while also shifting each hole away from surrounding homes and widening of the fairways to increase the playability of the municipal asset,” the release stated.

It was one of the first golf courses to be built during the Las Vegas boom.

“The golf course was an iconic course in the Las Vegas market,” KemperSports CEO Steve Skinner said. “We look forward to a new beginning for Desert Rose and establishing it as a great new golf experience.”

Desert Rose represents KemperSports’ first managed property in the state of Nevada.

Based in Northbrook, Ill., KemperSports owns and manages over 120 18-hole equivalent golf courses across the United States, Caribbean and Central America.
