Troon will take over management for the Potomac Shores Golf Club, in Potomac Shores, Va., which is scheduled to open in this spring. It is the third club the management giant has assumed since late December.
Potomac Shores is 30 minutes from Washington, D.C., and features the area’s first daily-fee Jack Nicklaus Signature Design. The 18-hole layout is the centerpiece to the Potomac Shores community being developed by SunCal, one of the leading developers of master-planned communities and commercial developments in the United States.
“We are thrilled to be working with SunCal and look forward to many years of providing a world-class golf experience to residents and visitors alike,” said John Easterbrook, executive vice president, operations, Troon.
Potomac Shores boasts a par 72 layout that stretches to 7,082 yards from the back tees and unfolds throughout 2,000 acres of rugged, natural landscape.
Additional amenities at Potomac Shores Golf Club will include a complete practice facility, including short-game area and an Old Virginian inspired clubhouse that will be home to a comfortable restaurant/grille, full-service day lockers and well-appointed golf shop. The Potomac Shores community will include more than 3,800 new homes, a 450-slip marina, two public schools, 15-plus sports fields and courts, a corporate hub and town center.
In late December, Troon announced it had been selected to manage Audubon Country Club, located in Southwest Florida near Naples, Fla.
The member-owned Audubon Country Club is surrounded 28 lakes, and an 18-hole Joe Lee designed golf course. Audubon has a variety of birds and other wildlife, including nesting bald eagles.
“Audubon Country Club has an outstanding reputation and offers the ideal South Florida lifestyle,” stated Jim McLaughlin, Senior Vice President, Troon Privé Operations."
Members of the club enjoy activities that include not only golf but tennis, championship-level croquet, swimming and fitness as well. Its 35,000 square-foot clubhouse serves as the community’s hub for social activities, casual dining and many other events and parties.
Troon has also continued to grow its Moroccan portfolio with the addition of another Palmeraie Development Group facility called PalmGolf Club Marrakech. Following the announcement in 2013 that Troon will manage sister venues at Les Jardins De l’Atlas, Marrakech and the California Golf Resort, Casablanca, the signing of PalmGolf Club Marrakech demonstrates the ownerships confidence in Troon.
Previously known as the Palmeraie Golf Club, the newly named PalmGolf Club Marrakech is an exciting move forward for the historic Robert Trent Jones course. The legendary Jones first came to the region overseeing such classic works as the Royal Dar Es Salem in Rabat and the Royal Palace Golf course in Agadir.
The 27-hole championship venue adds to an already impressive portfolio of existing Troon-managed properties in the region, bringing the total up to eight venues benefitting from the market-leader’s expert knowledge.P
