Home to the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, Abu Dhabi Golf Club has announced the strategic promotion of Director of Club Operations Paul Booth to the position of general manager effective immediately.
Booth will work closely with the ownership group to implement key strategies in the advancement of Troon Golf’s standards for service, hospitality and golf course conditioning.
“Abu Dhabi Golf Club continues to rank amongst the finest courses the globe has to offer and I welcome the opportunity to support the venue realize its goals,” Booth said in a news release. “I look forward to working with the ownership alongside my team to drive forward our initiatives, expanding on the opportunities provided by such a rich and diverse venue to offer our members and guests alike the ultimate golf experience in the UAE.”
Booth, a member of the PGA, has worked at each level of the golf business, with more than 20 collective years in golf club management. After tenures as a coaching professional in the UK, Booth moved to the Middle East in 2001 to develop his management experience of premium golf venues before joining Troon in 2007 as head professional of Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
Booth also joined its sister venue Saadiyat Beach Golf Club as a key member of its pre-opening team. He oversaw the collective as director of golf through its launch period and was later appointed official director of club operations at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club in July 2011.
“Pivotal to its success, Booth created a team to provide an ideal atmosphere for members and guests to enjoy their social and leisure time, utilizing the golf course and food and beverage event promotions,” according to a news release.
Earlier this year, Troon named Booth as “Ambassador of the Year” at its annual Troon Leadership Conference. He was selected out of 10,000 associates.
