KemperSports has been selected to mange Shiloh Springs Golf Club in Platte City, Mo. The Platte County Commission voted 3–0, choosing KemperSports over three other management proposals, according to the Kansas City Star. Two of the four companies were interested in purchasing the public course, though KemperSports was not one of them, according to the newspaper.

“I believe KemperSports presented the county with the best opportunity to increase its rounds, increase participation in golf programs and help achieve our goal of increasing operational revenues at the course,” Brian Nowotny, director of the Platte County Parks and Recreation Department, told the Kansas City in March.

KemperSports currently manages two other courses in nearby Kansas City, Mo.: Shoal Greek Golf Club and Hodge Park Golf Course.

Designed by architect Gary Martin, the 18-hole, par-71 golf course routes through the rolling hills of Northwest Missouri. It is located five minutes from the Kansas City International Airport.

“We are honored to work with Platte County to manage Shiloh Springs,” KemperSports CEO Steve Skinner said in a news release. “Working closely with the County, our goal will be to bring creative operational efficiencies while enhancing the customer experience at the course."

Opened in 1995, Shiloh Springs Golf Club has a full-service golf shop, driving range, practice facility, grill and a banquet space with a capacity of 150 guests. From 1995 to 2000, Martin leased the facility from the County and personally operated the course, according to the club’s website. Starting in 2000, Oak Golf, a Kansas-based management company, managed the facility until 2002. For the following two years, different individuals hired by the County managed it.

“In October 2005 Platte County made some major decisions that will influence the future of Shiloh Springs Golf Club in a very positive way,” the club’s website reads. “They purchased the land that the golf course sits on from Martin Investments, making Platte County the sole owner of the facility. They put the operation of the golf course under the Platte County Parks & Recreation Department.”

Based in Northbrook, Ill., KemperSports owns and manages over 120 18-hole equivalent golf courses across the United States, Caribbean and Central America.

Integrity Golf Company announced the promotion of Ed Whalley to chief financial officer.

Prior to the promotion, Whalley served as executive vice president of corporate development & compliance, and was responsible for helping oversee much of the company's recent expansion efforts as well as lease compliance and financial services matters. In his new role, Whalley will continue to drive new business development and manage Integrity Golf's numerous third-party lease and management relationships.

Under Whalley's leadership, Orlando-based Integrity Golf has become one of the largest operators in the country and now oversees 23 golf facilities in Florida. Overall, the company’s portfolio includes 34 golf facilities in six states: Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee, New York, North and South Carolina.

Earlier this week, Integrity Golf took over operations at Tiger Point Golf Club in Gulf Breeze, Fla., strengthening the company's niche as one of the leading managers of municipal courses.

"It's a dynamic time to be part of Integrity Golf," says Whalley. "While many courses are struggling, we've been fortunate to grow throughout Central Florida and beyond. The only missing link to our company's Central Florida network of courses is Brevard County. I can't wait to add some of my former hometown courses to our collection."

With the recent announcement that Brevard County is interested in seeking a new manager for the county's three courses, Whalley sees another opportunity for a successful public-private partnership.

"My only hole in one was at The Savannahs," said Whalley, referring to one of Brevard County's three municipal courses. "We have a number of other successful partnerships with various municipalities and public agencies and fully understand what it takes to thrive in this important aspect of golf."

After attending the University of Central Florida, Whalley started his hospitality career in 1990 with Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, working in a variety of management positions during his seven-year tenure. Whalley got his start in the golf industry in 1997 with American Golf, the largest golf management company at the time. During his American Golf career, he provided financial analysis as well as logistical and operations support for 150 courses in the Eastern U.S. and United Kingdom. Prior to joining Integrity Golf, Whalley was director of operations for Kitson & Partners Club Services, whose golf portfolio stretched from Central Florida to the Hawaiian Islands.

Based in Orlando, Fla., Integrity Golf Company is the 18th largest golf management company in the world with 34 owned and/or operated private clubs, daily-fee facilities, municipal courses and golf resort properties in in six states. Integrity Golf Company also recently announced a partnership with the online tee-time reservation company, GolfNow.

KemperSports announced today that it has been selected by Clark County, Nev to manage Desert Rose Golf Club located in Eastern Las Vegas, located just minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. Originally designed by Dick Wilson and John Lee in 1964, Desert Rose will re-emerge after undergoing a full re-design by Randy Heckenkemper, who most recently completed designs at The Champions Course at TPC Scottsdale and worked in collaboration with Phil Mickelson at McDowell Mountain Golf Club.

In addition to the newly created golf course, Desert Rose will be re-branded with a new name and logo in order to reposition the golf course in the Las Vegas market. The newly renovated golf course will also feature a 4,400-sq.-ft. clubhouse, which will provide the local community with a local gathering place featuring a golf shop as well as full service restaurant and bar.

“We believe KemperSports is the right partner to re-open our iconic golf course,” Lonny Zimmerman said in a news release, a Clark County Representative. “Their expertise in opening new courses as well as their experience in managing a large number of municipal properties made them an ideal choice to manage Desert Rose.”

Closed for more than two years while the construction was taking place, Desert Rose will re-open to the public in fall 2015.

“The renovation allowed for each golf hole to be contoured in order to retain the subtle movement throughout the routing while also shifting each hole away from surrounding homes and widening of the fairways to increase the playability of the municipal asset,” the release stated.

It was one of the first golf courses to be built during the Las Vegas boom.

“The golf course was an iconic course in the Las Vegas market,” KemperSports CEO Steve Skinner said. “We look forward to a new beginning for Desert Rose and establishing it as a great new golf experience.”

Desert Rose represents KemperSports’ first managed property in the state of Nevada.

Based in Northbrook, Ill., KemperSports owns and manages over 120 18-hole equivalent golf courses across the United States, Caribbean and Central America.
